Foodservice
The foodservice sector includes all 'out of the home' meal occasions and in recent years, we've been working with caterers of all sizes in both public and private sectors to increase the demand for Specially Selected Pork.
Thank you to everyone who made our recent seminar a huge success. Taking place on the 21st April 2009, key delegates from across Scotland took part in our one-day pork event at The Gleneagles Hotel. We hope those at the event continue to position Specially Selected Pork as a versatile and truly innovative product on their menu. The image below highlights John Webber (Senior Tutor at the Nick Nairn Cook School) and Jonathan Honeyman (The Aberfoyle Butcher) in full flow!

Other acctivities in the foodservice sector include advertorials in major catering publications as well as the recent Specially Selected Pork competition for young chefs at Scothot 2009 - Scotland's premier event for caterers.

We also work in the public sector where we use Farm Assurance criteria to encourage schools and hospitals to source more locally. It's common for us to trace product back to the farm of origin and highlight this as best practice for sustainable sourcing. We're delighted to say that our efforts here were "Highly Commended" at the 2008 Government Opportunities Sustainability Award.
Catering Colleges regularly receive mailings from us and we now have many resources available for Lecturers to educate students on QMS Pig Assurance. From time to time, we also visit Colleges with butchery and cooking demonstrations to highlight the truly versatile nature of Specially Selected Pork.
